Use /model opusplan
/model opusplan uses Opus for planning and Sonnet for implementation.

Section titled “Why it is useful”- Opus is stronger for planning, architecture, debugging strategy, and complex reasoning.
- Sonnet is usually faster and more cost-effective for implementation.
- The workflow gives you a stronger plan first, then efficient execution.
Typical workflow
Section titled “Typical workflow”- Run
/model opusplan. - Enter Plan Mode.
- Let Opus create the plan.
- Approve the plan.
- Claude Code uses Sonnet for implementation.
For very large context work, /model opusplan[1m] may be useful when 1M context is available and needed.
